
Andrew D James joined DP Partners as Partner-Chicago in October of 2008. He is responsible for the development of all commercial facilities and parks, the acquisition of developable land, and the investment in existing commercial buildings in the Chicago region. James is working with the brokerage community to expand DP’s Chicago holdings through the acquisition of land for build-to-suit and speculative industrial buildings and parks and the acquisition of existing commercial facilities for investment purposes.
A seasoned professional in the industrial and commercial real estate industry, he most recently formed Chicago-based J4 Investments LLC, a private development and investment company. James is well known for his seven years representing the Chicago office of Indianapolis, IN-based Duke Realty Corporation (NYSE: DRE). As Duke’s Senior Vice President-Chicago Industrial, he was responsible for land acquisition, development, redevelopment, and leasing of the company’s industrial portfolio in the Chicago metropolitan area. In 2004, James’ group was named Duke’s “Industrial Sales Team of the Year,” and in 2007 Crain’s Chicago Business named Duke “Developer of the Year.”
Prior to that, James served as Vice President of Development & General Counsel for the Indianapolis, IN-based suburban office developer of Browning Investments, Inc., and as Litigation Partner with the Chicago-based law firm of Burke, Warren, MacKay & Serritella.
A native of Indianapolis, IN, James has lived in Chicago since 1989. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Tulane University (New Orleans, LA) and earned his Juris Doctorate from Indiana University (Bloomington, IN). He is active in the following trade associations that DP Partners is a member of including the Association of Industrial Real Estate Brokers (AIRE), the Society of Industrial and Office REALTORS (SIOR), and the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP).
